Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has become very common among people that they find it hard to sleep at night. The issue of lack of sleep is linked to two major factors but with a practical step, people can be encouraged to follow some habits to improve their sleep.

One major reason of facing difficulty while sleeping is working overnigt and overtime. Due to increase in cost of living, it is quite challeging for people to manage their expanses. They often work overnight to pick extra shift by which their body clock get disturbed, as at night their brain needs rest to recover for next day. When they follow the same routine everyday for long time, they pron to sleep problems.

The growing depandence on technology is another cause of this issue. People prefer to spend most of their time on electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, computers and video games. They get addicted to use it overnight. As this technology not only provide them a company at night, but they also entertain themseles through these gadgets. Therefore, due to increase in screen time, they often deal with problems of sleep.

However, government can encourage people by organising some awareness camps by which they can know what kind of lifestyle can be changed. Companies must put a limit on people's working hours,so that individuals donot overwork which cause them problems. Also weekly seesions on overuse of technology must be provided in cities and villages by which young people can know their drawbacks.

In conclusion, although people are suffered from lack of sleep due to overnight work and depandence on technology, some necessary measures can be taken to mitigate this problem. As government should take some strict steps to prevent this problem among people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions by identifying possible causes—overnight work and technology use—and proposing measures such as limits on working hours and awareness sessions. These points are relevant, but the task asks specifically what problems lack of sleep can cause, and this part is not answered clearly: effects on health, concentration, mood, or daily performance are largely absent. The response instead focuses on why people struggle to sleep, so the coverage is partial. Your position is broadly understandable, but the final sentence repeats the need for government action rather than drawing together the consequences and solutions. Develop each part with a specific explanation or example, especially the effects of insufficient sleep, and make the proposed actions more concrete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two paragraphs on causes, a paragraph of proposed measures, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of discussion easy to follow, and transitions such as “One major reason,” “another cause,” and “However” help signal the stages. The organisation is coherent, though the progression is not fully balanced because the body gives substantial attention to causes while the requested problems caused by sleep loss are missing. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated “by which” constructions. For stronger progression, organise the body around the two task questions and use more direct links between each claim and its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “body clock,” “cost of living,” “screen time,” and “overuse of technology.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “manage their expenses” and “limit on people’s working hours.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “overnigt,” “challeging,” “expanses,” “depandence,” and “seesions” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “get addicted to use it overnight” and “provide them a company.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases. More precise vocabulary for the consequences of sleep loss would also help you answer the task fully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause with “Due to…” and a conditional time clause beginning “When they follow the same routine…”. This shows some range, but control is uneven, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “their body clock get disturbed” needs subject–verb agreement, while “technology not only provide them” also has an agreement error. The sentence beginning “As government should take…” is not a complete, well-formed conclusion, and “Companies must put a limit … so that individuals donot overwork which cause them problems” contains several linked grammatical problems. Aim for clearer sentence boundaries and check that each subject matches its verb; simpler accurate sentences will make your ideas easier to understand.
