Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Emily,
I hope you're doing great. I am glad to give you a piece of advice regarding the same course I did last year at vancouver community university.
As you remember, I have completed buisness and project management diploma within one year and I would prefer to recommend the same university because of a plathera of reasons. First and foremost is it is a public university and a very well-known in the town. Furthermore, it provides scolorship to the briliant students who graduated with higher grades. Last but not the least, Vancouver community has all professional staff as well as they assist every student in order to get succeed in their carriers.
Regarding the details how to apply, you can apply through the uiversity official website like go to Vancouveruniversity.com and also you can visit them in person if you need further assistance.
I will wait for your prompt response about the decision you will make after getting help about this course.
All the best,
kiran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address all three requested points: you identify the business and project management diploma, give reasons for recommending the university, and explain how Emily can apply. The advice is relevant, but several ideas are only briefly stated. For example, “all professional staff” and support to help students succeed are broad claims; a specific example of teaching quality or student support would make the recommendation more convincing. The application guidance is also limited to the website or visiting in person, without explaining what documents or steps to prepare. The purpose is clear, but the closing request for a response does not add much useful advice. Develop the reasons and application guidance with a little more detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear overall progression: an opening, a paragraph describing the course and recommending the university, a paragraph on applying, and a friendly closing. Linking phrases such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” and “Regarding” help the reader follow the points. The organisation is effective, although the recommendation paragraph combines course details with several reasons for choosing the university, so separating these ideas could make the structure even clearer. Some transitions, particularly “Last but not the least,” feel formulaic, and the final sentence about waiting for a response is not closely connected to the practical advice. Use a more natural transition and ensure each paragraph has a focused purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “diploma,” “public university,” “scholarship,” and “official website,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, spelling errors such as “buisness,” “plathera,” “scolorship,” “briliant,” and “uiversity” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “a piece of advice” is less suitable when giving several recommendations, and “get succeed in their carriers” does not express the intended idea naturally. “Prompt response” is rather formal for a letter to a friend. Check spelling carefully and choose familiar, accurate collocations that suit the friendly context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can follow the main message. However, some grammatical patterns are inaccurate. For example, “I would prefer to recommend” is awkwardly constructed, while “First and foremost is it is a public university” has an incorrect clause structure. In “a very well-known in the town,” the article and sentence construction are faulty, and “details how to apply” needs a grammatical link such as “details about how to apply.” The phrase “I have completed … within one year” also uses a tense that is not the most natural for a finished course last year. Practise clear clause structures and review articles, verb forms, and prepositions.
