Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three requested points: you identify chemical sciences and the university, recommend it for its teaching and learning environment, and explain how to apply through the school portal. These details make the response relevant and give your friend practical information. However, some points are only briefly developed. For example, the course description mainly names organic and inorganic chemistry, while the recommendation would be more convincing with a specific example of good teaching or facilities. The application advice could also mention checking entry requirements or preparing documents. The final point about pharmaceutical chemistry adds a useful perspective, but its connection to your recommendation could be clearer. Overall, the main purpose is achieved, though some ideas need fuller explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The information is arranged in a generally sensible order: you introduce the course, explain why you recommend the university, give application advice, and add a final comment about future study. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages. Some connections between ideas are less clear, however. The opening sentence combines the message you received with your own study history, and the final paragraph begins abruptly with “The is really a good course.” Linking phrases such as “As for applying” or “Another advantage is” would make the progression smoother. There is also some repetition in “best in term of best Lecture room.” Overall, the organisation is coherent, but transitions and references could be clearer and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “chemical sciences,” “organic and inorganic chemistry,” “portal,” and “pharmaceutical chemistry,” so the reader can understand the subject and application process. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as describing the lecture room as “spacious.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “schooi,” “convinent,” “condusive,” and “phamacetical.” Some phrases are also unnatural or repetitive, particularly “best in term of best Lecture room” and “Lecture that teach like a teacher.” These choices reduce precision, even though the main meaning remains understandable. Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and use a wider range of precise terms to describe teaching quality and campus facilities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, such as the opening sentence beginning “I received a message from you last week that…”. This gives some variety, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, there are several errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the course i study” should use a past-tense form, and “I will recommended” has an incorrect verb form. In “our Lecture that teach,” the verb does not agree with its subject, while “because is very spacious” lacks a clear subject. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses and checking tense and agreement; this would make your ideas easier to read.
