Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Rahn,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I'm writing you to give suggestion related to French classes from St. Clair college.
As you know that I'm pursing French classes from past nine months and I develop strong foundation of this language. Earlier, you gonna find it quite difficult along with the time It'll be a piece of cake for you,
I'd say you should definitely consider this college because it offer both online and offline classes. You can easily work if you take classes online. Moreover, if you did well in this course you can easily target your Permanent residency in Canada.
They are offering a huge discount on next batch, if you're interested let me know. You just need to submit online form any they'll reach out to you.
Please let me know if you need more information and keep me updated.
Best wishes,
Jasvi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, recommending the university, and explaining the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the course, you could have provided more specific details about the curriculum or the teaching style to make the advice more helpful. The recommendation is clear, but the explanation of the application process is quite brief. To improve, try to expand on your points with more descriptive language and personal anecdotes to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 or higher.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'if', which assist in connecting ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt, such as the jump between the course description and the application advice. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could benefit from a more sophisticated use of linking words to create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some idiomatic expressions like 'piece of cake', which is appropriate for an informal letter. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'pursing French classes' (should be 'pursuing') and 'develop strong foundation' (should be 'have developed a strong foundation'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the variety and precision required for a higher band score. Focusing on more precise verbs and collocations will help improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I'm writing you to give suggestion' (should be 'to give a suggestion'), 'from past nine months' (should be 'for the past nine months'), and 'any they'll reach out' (should be 'and they'll reach out'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. To reach a higher band, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and proofreading for minor slips.
