Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Surjit,
I hope you are doing well. To be honest, I am so happy that you are also interested in the same course that I have done. I recently completed my Master's in Business Administration. Its best for the kind of students who want to learn about business strategies, Management procedures as well as all concepts regarding the business field.
I want to recommend this course to you because you have a lot of interest towards the business stream and you want to be a successful business administrator, so it's the best career choice for you. Moreover, you will get great knowledge about market strategies that will not only help you to enhance your family business, but also lead your life towards success.
Firstly, you have to apply for an offer letter to the university through their official website. Once you get an offer letter, you have to pay the tuition fee, moreover, you will get letter of acceptance, fee reciepts as well as all guidelines regarding orientation and courses.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, recommending the university, and providing application advice. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific details about the course content (e.g., mentioning specific modules or the duration) rather than general descriptions like 'business strategies'. Additionally, the advice on the application process is a bit generic; adding a personal tip or a specific requirement would further develop the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Firstly', and 'Once' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between the course description and the application advice is smoother. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate the different sections of the letter, which helps the reader follow your train of thought easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'business strategies', 'management procedures', and 'tuition fee'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'reciepts' (should be 'receipts') and 'towards the business stream' (which is slightly unnatural; 'in the field of business' would be better). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'Its best for the kind of students' (should be 'It is' or 'It's') and 'all concepts regarding the business field' (which is slightly vague). Punctuation is generally accurate, though there are a few instances where sentence boundaries could be clearer. Overall, your grammar is functional and does not impede communication, but more variety in complex structures would be beneficial.
