Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Kriti,

I was really glad to hear that you are considering to take course I studied in the university. I completed the diploma in human resources management. This course covers all the comprehensive skills like labor and employee relations, health and safety, organization development. These are the core course of this diploma and to master this diploma this course offers not only the theoretical subjects but also the practical knowledge.

I genuinely recommend this university because of its excellent academic standing and real life experience of the professors in HR world. This helps to make classes more engaging and relevant. This university also organize the workshops, networking events, and internship opportunities which helped me gaining practical knowledge before entering the workforce.

For the application process, I would suggest to apply before the deadline. This will help you in getting transcripts later. There is also schollorship for excellent academic standing students you can apply for that too.

I hope this information will help you. If you have any other concern please let me know. I would be happy to help you.

Warm Regards,

Amanpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: the course details, the recommendation of the university, and the application advice. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the application advice could be slightly more detailed to reach a higher band. For instance, explaining why applying early helps with transcripts would add more depth. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics. Cohesive devices such as 'This helps to', 'For the application process', and 'This will help' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some specific terminology related to the course, such as 'labor and employee relations' and 'organization development'. There are some minor errors, such as 'schollorship' (spelling) and 'this university also organize' (subject-verb agreement). While the range is sufficient, it lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would characterize a higher band. The word choice is generally accurate and conveys the intended meaning clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'considering to take course' (should be 'considering taking the course'), 'these are the core course' (should be 'courses'), and 'helped me gaining' (should be 'helped me gain'). Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the communication remains effective. The punctuation is generally correct, and the sentence variety is sufficient for this type of task.
