Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Nishit,

How are you doing? I hope every is going good.

I am glad to hear that you are applying in the same course and in the same university too. I am really excited for your new chapter.

Firstly, this course has 7 subjects in it. Two of them are practically based and will have 4 classes a week and the other 5 subjects are theory based followed by 10 classes a week. I know you are thinking that it is going yo be tough but trust me its not.

The best part is once you will graduate from this university you l will be having your field job with a good pay within a week and That is the best part to get enroll in the university that they give really good placements within the city. Other best thing you are really gonna enjoy is the lectures. All the professors are really educated and all of them have a PHD degree.

The easiest way that you can apply is from universities website and they will revert you back in next 5 business days.

If you need anything else, I am just a call away.

With love,

Kavisha

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You provided details about the course structure, explained why the university is recommended, and gave advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the description of the course structure is a bit repetitive, and the advice on how to apply is very brief. To improve, you could expand on why the specific subjects are beneficial or provide more nuanced advice on the application process, such as mentioning required documents or personal statements, to fully develop your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'The best part is' to link your points. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes a bit abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. For example, the phrase 'Other best thing' is slightly awkward and lacks a smooth connection to the previous paragraph. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that the relationships between your sentences are more fluid and natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'practically based', 'theory based', and 'placements'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'applying in the same course' (should be 'for') and 'get enroll' (should be 'enrolled'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your word choices are grammatically accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I hope every is going good' (should be 'everything is going well'), 'it is going yo be tough' (typo), and 'you l will be having' (repetition). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for minor slips and refining your control over complex sentence structures will help improve your accuracy.
