Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details about the business marketing course, explained why you recommend the university, and offered clear advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly more on the 'why'—for example, by describing a specific aspect of the university culture or a personal anecdote about your time there to make the recommendation feel more authentic and well-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with clear paragraph breaks for each point. You use some cohesive devices such as 'I would like to', 'This helps', and 'So I think'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. For instance, the transition between the course description and the recommendation could be smoother. Additionally, some punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas (e.g., 'well ,'), slightly disrupt the flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words would help the letter feel more natural and cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'administrative department', 'internship', and 'multiunit companies'. However, there are some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'persuade your studies' (likely meant 'pursue') and 'gain knowledge and build you future' (should be 'your'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precision. To improve, focus on collocations and ensure you are using the correct verb forms for academic contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent minor errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include missing articles ('at Cambridge university'), incorrect prepositions ('recommend you this university' should be 'recommend this university to you'), and subject-verb agreement issues. Furthermore, the consistent placement of spaces before commas is a recurring punctuation error. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit the score in this criterion.
