You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear .................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mainka,

I am writing to advise you of the course and the university where I completed my course. Before starting my course, I was so nervous and felt afraid of the course. But I found it very interesting.

Marketing Promotion is a great course if you are really interested in Marketing. It is a three-month course and provides vast knowledge of different aspects. I hope it will also be easy for you to understand.

I want to recommend the same institution, because i found that the facilities and the professors are very polite and kind. They are very supportive if you encounter any technical issues while finding online content. The professor will teach the core concepts in a very engaging way, helping you gain a better understanding of the course.

To apply, I will send you a link to the website. You need to click on it, and after that, it will take you through the whole process, asking for your information and payment method.

I hope you will consider my advice and choose this course from the same university. Wish you all the best for your future.

Best wishes,

Saloni

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the course, recommending the university, and providing application advice. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the course provides 'vast knowledge,' you could have provided more specific examples of the modules or skills learned to make the advice more helpful. Similarly, the application advice is quite generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully extended with specific details or personal anecdotes that demonstrate a deeper engagement with the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each bullet point, and a closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Before starting,' 'because,' and 'after that,' which help the flow of information. However, the transitions between sentences could be more sophisticated. At times, the connection between sentences feels slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother by using a wider range of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'technical issues,' 'core concepts,' and 'engaging way.' However, the vocabulary is generally quite simple and repetitive. There are no significant errors in word choice, but the language lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and collocations that are specific to the context of university studies and advice-giving, rather than relying on general-purpose words like 'great' or 'easy.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to follow. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'I am writing to advise you of the course' (which is slightly unnatural; 'tell you about' or 'give you information on' would be better) and the lowercase 'i' in the third paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To achieve a higher score, aim to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, while maintaining accuracy.
