Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear baljot,

I hope you find that latter, i am writing a latter about applying for same course that i took in 2023. It Took AI technology in ABC university in Canada. This course took because i had have a interest in AI, today AI is very advanced also very easy to get jobs in this field.

According to me you need to take Same university ABC in canada because there teacher staff are very good and cooperative. Also, the main reason is they give scholar to their students may be that is 3000$. So that way i recommend to you to take it.

It's very easy to apply from direct University website. You need to upload all the documents that are mention on the website and wait for some time to reply. If you have any issue then you can contact me or contact to the University.

Your faithfully,

Kamalpreet singh.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: it describes the AI course, explains why the university is recommended, and provides application advice. However, the development of these ideas is quite basic. For instance, the advice on how to apply is very generic, and the explanation of why the university is recommended relies on simple points like 'teacher staff' and a scholarship. To achieve a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the course content or the application process to demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on one of the required points. There is a clear opening and closing. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'According to me' and 'So that way' are used to link ideas, but they do not always flow naturally. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother if you used a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You use simple terms like 'very good', 'very easy', and 'very advanced'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'scholar' instead of 'scholarship' and 'teacher staff' instead of 'faculty' or 'teaching staff'. To improve, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to university applications and academic study, and try to avoid overusing the word 'very'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'I hope you find that latter' (letter), 'i am writing a latter', 'It Took AI technology', 'i had have a interest', and 'they give scholar'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and the misuse of commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevent the writing from reaching a higher band.
