Dear Amrit,
I hope you are doing well, I am writing this letter to answer your questions regarding your further education.
First of all, let me give you brief information about the course that I took in university. I was a student of computer information technology. This course focus on several important subjects such as Cyber security, Linux, OS and several computer languages. These subjects can be really helpful for you during your job hunting. Secondly, finding a good reputative university is very crucial as you are going to spend four years of your life in that university. I would like to recommend the same university, where I studied from. The name of the university is Guru Nanak Dev University. The best thing about this university is it provide scholarship to merit students and I believe you will be eligible for it. Moreover, you do not need to worry about other factors such as environment or behaviour of students in university. All staff members of university are professional and well trained.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details about the computer information technology course, explained why you recommend the university, and offered advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly more on the specific benefits of the course or provide more detailed, actionable advice regarding the application process, such as mentioning specific documents or deadlines, to further develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs covering the required points, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader. However, the transition 'Additional' is incorrect; 'Additionally' or 'In addition' would be more appropriate. While the paragraphing is functional, the flow between some sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used accurately would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'merit students', 'professional', and 'well trained'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'reputative university' is not standard English; 'reputable' or 'well-regarded' would be better. Similarly, 'I studied from' is redundant; 'I studied at' is the correct preposition. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise and natural collocations would improve your lexical range and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'This course focus' should be 'focuses', 'it provide' should be 'it provides') and punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in the first sentence ('...doing well, I am writing...'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
