Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Harsh,
I hope you are doing great on your side.I am glad to hear that you are pondering to join the same university as me .I will surely guide you about all the crucial areas you need to consider for your future carrier.
The most prominent factor to enrol in any educational institute is choosing the right course, mine was General Business Diploma(BUSN,non -coop).Additionally,it was not only straightforward but also carrier oriented .Majors include customer service , accounting, marketing, communication that would definitely assist you in long term ,whether you choose to work in retail or desire to be an entrepreneur. However , it depends on your interest ,otherwise go for another field that gravitates your interest.
Moving further towards why i feel you would enrol in this university are reputation and environment of this institute, that you might not find anywhere else. Moreover, all instructors are highly educated and have immense knowledge in their field.Apart from this, expenses are also not too high and you would also get scholarship that would covers more than 50% of your entire fees.
As for application process, you would not need to hire an agent which would quite expensive.Whereas, you just need to go online on official website of University where you would find enrolment form under admissions section, fill that form accurately and submit it in given time while attaching all important documents and paying a fees of 25 canadian dollars.
Hopefully you will get positive result within 10 days after application.
I look forward to hear from you. If you need any further information do not hesitate to reach out.
Best Regards,
Harneet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: providing course details, explaining the university's benefits, and outlining the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. Ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the task requirements. The response is well-structured, and the advice given is practical and clear. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific personal anecdotes or details about the course experience to make the advice feel more authentic and engaging.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Moving further towards', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader through the text. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The use of referencing is mostly clear, though some sentence structures could be more fluid to improve the overall cohesion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different topics, which helps the reader follow the progression of your advice.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prominent factor', 'entrepreneur', and 'gravitates'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'carrier' instead of 'career' and 'fees of 25 canadian dollars' (which should be capitalized). Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'pondering to join' or 'on your side'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of collocations would help improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including punctuation issues (e.g., missing spaces after commas and periods) and subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'scholarship that would covers' and 'fees are also not too high'. Additionally, there are minor errors with articles and prepositions. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these small errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy would improve your score in this criterion.
