Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Harsh,
I hope you are doing great on your end .I am glad to hear that you are considering joining the same university as me .I will surely guide you about all the crucial areas you need to consider for your future career.
The most prominent factor to enrol in any educational institute is choosing the right course, mine was General Business Diploma(BUSN,non -coop).Additionally,it was not only straightforward but also career oriented .Majors include customer service , accounting, marketing and communication that would definitely assist you in the long term ,whether you choose to work in retail or desire to be an entrepreneur. However , it depends on your interest ,otherwise go for another field that interests you.
Moving further towards why I feel you would choose to enrol in this university are reputation and environment of this institution, that you might not find anywhere else. Moreover, all instructors are highly educated and have immense knowledge in their field.Apart from this, the tution fees are also reasonable and you would also get a scholarship that would cover more than 50% of your entire fees.
As for the application process, you would not need to hire an agent which would be expensive.Whereas, you just need to go online on the website of University where you would find the enrolment form under admissions section, fill that form accurately and submit it within the given time while attaching all important documents and paying a fee of $25 .
Hopefully you will get a positive result within 10 days after application.
I look forward to hearing from you. If you need any further information do not hesitate to reach out.
Best Regards,
Harneet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You provided specific details about the General Business Diploma, explained the benefits of the university (reputation, instructors, and financial aid), and gave a clear, step-by-step guide on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader has a clear understanding of your experience and the necessary actions to take. The response is fully focused on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Moreover', 'Apart from this', and 'As for'. While the flow is generally smooth, there are some minor issues with punctuation and spacing, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Diploma(BUSN,non -coop).Additionally,it'). Improving the consistency of these mechanical aspects would enhance the overall readability. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the distinct points of the letter, making the information easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary suitable for this task, using terms like 'prominent factor', 'career oriented', 'entrepreneur', and 'enrolment form'. The language is generally natural and conveys your meaning clearly. There are some minor word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'guide you about' (should be 'guide you through' or 'advise you on') and 'tution' (spelling error). However, these do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and ensure precise spelling throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am glad to hear that you are considering...' and '...that would definitely assist you in the long term'. While the majority of your sentences are clear and error-free, there are some recurring issues with punctuation, specifically missing spaces after commas and periods. Additionally, there are minor grammatical slips, such as 'why I feel you would choose to enrol' (which is slightly awkward phrasing) and 'go online on the website' (should be 'go to the website'). Despite these, your control of grammar is generally strong and does not hinder understanding.
