Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Niraj,

I am glad to provide you information and suggestions about "Logistics and supply chain management" which I have completed at Nipissing university.

I have completed my graduation in 2025 in Logistics and supply chain management which was two years program. There was a co-op so I have also gained some practical knowledge during placement at the end of semester four.

I would like to suggest that you can apply for this course at Nipissing university because they have faculties who have experienced in field of transports and management which help you to provide some personal experience of them. Additionally, There is a co-op at the end of semester which can help you to provide some experience in field. You don't need to worry to find a firm for it just because university help you to do it.

For the admission process, you just need to visit university official website and find the page called apply with Nipissing university. Then after, you have to provide some details about your past education and experience if you have any. In the last, you have to pay CAD 150 as admission fee and you will get your offer letter within a week if your are eligible for this particular program.

Thank you for your consideration.

Your faithfully,

Gautam

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details about the Logistics and supply chain management course, explained why you recommend Nipissing University, and outlined the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, you could expand on the 'why' by providing more specific examples of how the faculty's experience or the co-op program benefited you personally, rather than just stating that they are helpful. This would add more depth to your ideas and better support your recommendations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'For the admission process' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between discussing the co-op and the application process is a bit abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your referencing is precise will help improve the overall flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'co-op', 'placement', and 'admission fee'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'faculties who have experienced in field of transports' (should be 'faculty members who have experience in the field of transport') and 'university help you to do it' (should be 'the university helps you to arrange it'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic or professional collocations would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I am glad to provide you information' (missing 'with'), 'which help you to provide some personal experience of them' (awkward phrasing), and 'if your are eligible' (typo). Additionally, there are some issues with article usage and verb agreement. To improve, focus on proofreading for small errors and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
