Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Pardeep,
I hope you are doing well.
I am pleased to know that you are going to enroll in Bachelors of physiotherapy. I know you would love to work in healthcare as you are kind towards helping others.
Firstly, this course consists of eight semesters. While theory you will get some clinical experience at university OPD. First four semesters are associated with body muscles, bones and how it works well, and then last four semesters are totally related to body mechanics and treatment goals.
It is a combination of assessment, evaluation and observation. Overall, you would really like this course as it assists you to create better career in future.
The foremost reason why I recommend you this university is that there is an OPD in physiotherapy department where you can improve your clinical skills while studying from first year.
Another significant reason is that staff is very cooperative and supportive as It was my personal experience.
I believe that university admission block will be closed on weekends so try to go on coming Monday. please make sure you are taking all your previous study documents with you.
It would be better if you go early so you can finish everything in a day.
Let me know if you need any other information.
Love,
Pardeep

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You provided details about the physiotherapy course structure, explained why the university is recommended (specifically mentioning the OPD and supportive staff), and offered clear advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the 'clinical experience' or the 'treatment goals' to make the advice feel more personal and insightful.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your advice easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Another significant reason', and 'Overall', which help link your points. However, the transition between the course description and the recommendation could be smoother. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'While theory you will get some clinical experience', which lacks a clear connector. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'physiotherapy', 'clinical experience', 'assessment', and 'evaluation'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'create better career' (should be 'build a better career') and 'how it works well' (which is slightly unnatural). You also use 'associated with' where 'focused on' or 'covered' would be more precise. While your vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more sophisticated collocations would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'Bachelors of physiotherapy' should be 'a Bachelor of Physiotherapy', and 'staff is very cooperative' should be 'the staff are very cooperative'. There are also issues with articles ('the university' vs 'university') and prepositions. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
