Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Anjali,
I hope you are doing great.
i received your letter yesterday, you are planning to do Healthcare administration course at sault college, same as me. That is really interesting course if you are willing to do a sitting job attentively for 8 hours long.
Honestly, this course is best to do at sault college, as professors there are very kind and friendly. They will teach you each and every topic very clearly and deeply in very fasinating way which enhance your knowledge about the administration in healthcare. On top of it the faculty in this college is really very helpful in everything, even if you are stressed about something you can just go to help desk they will do best to find solution to any of your problem.
You can apply for offer letter by visiting sault college website [www.saultcollege.com]. i just want to say go ahead with this course in this college you will never regret it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points: it describes the Healthcare Administration course, explains why Sault College is recommended, and provides application advice. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the course is quite brief, focusing only on the 'sitting job' aspect. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the specific content of the course or the skills gained. The advice on how to apply is also quite basic. Overall, the response addresses the prompt effectively but lacks depth in the supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the message. There is a clear opening and closing. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the course description and the college recommendation could be smoother. The use of linking words like 'On top of it' is a bit informal and repetitive. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition to this' to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Words like 'attentively', 'fascinating', and 'administration' are used correctly. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'do a sitting job' (should be 'sedentary role' or 'office-based job') and 'do best to find solution' (should be 'do their best to find a solution'). There are also minor errors in capitalization and punctuation, such as 'sault college' and 'i'. Improving your control over these common collocations and paying attention to formal conventions will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing) and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'That is really interesting course' should be 'That is a really interesting course'. Additionally, there are issues with sentence boundaries, such as comma splices in the first paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on proofreading for basic articles and sentence structure would be very beneficial.
