Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Raj,
How are you! I really feel glad that you consider me to give you advice on the course I have completed from University Canada West.
I have done my MBA and my main stream is Finance because I love accounting since my childhood. I have learnt project management, budgeting, accounting, leadership subjects which has profound impact on my knowledge. I want to enhance my skills in accounting so I have gained CPA certificate after completing this course.
I would highly recommend you this University because it gives you theoritical as well as practical knowledge. Moreover, the reputation of the university enhances the chances of the placement in the big companies. I had been selected by four accounting firms in my last term, but I want to become enterpreneur so I rejected all offers .
I will let you know that the admission procedure is quite hectic if you are applying through online portal. I would recommend you that You could visit personally and fill all the forms and apply in person. This will boost the chances of securing the seat.
I will be happy to assist you at any time and will catch you soon.
Regards,
Kamal
This course really a kick boost to career endevor as I have registred my accounting firm and soon I am going open my Office in Edmonton.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe your MBA course, provide a strong recommendation for the university based on its reputation and practical focus, and offer specific, actionable advice regarding the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the final paragraph, which appears to be an afterthought added after the sign-off, disrupts the flow of the letter. To improve, ensure all relevant information is integrated into the body paragraphs before the closing, as this maintains a more professional and coherent structure throughout the correspondence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on one of the required points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, the placement of the final paragraph after the sign-off is a significant structural error that negatively impacts the overall coherence. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, ensure that your paragraphing is consistent and that all supporting details are placed within the body of the letter rather than as an addendum, which makes the text feel disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'profound impact', 'theoritical', and 'placement'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'theoritical' (theoretical), 'enterpreneur' (entrepreneur), 'endevor' (endeavor), and 'registred' (registered). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and ensure that your spelling is accurate. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I would highly recommend you this University because it gives you theoritical as well as practical knowledge.' There are several grammatical slips, including 'How are you!' (should be a question mark), 'I really feel glad that you consider me to give you advice' (should be 'I am glad you asked for my advice'), and 'I had been selected' (should be 'I was selected'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. Focusing on verb tense consistency and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
