Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Elon Musk,
I hope you are doing awesome. I received your letter asking about studying the similar subject from same university which I studied. First of all, congratulations on your high school graduation and I hope you will do potentially well in university also.
As you know Amity University is renowned for its Management faculty and pursuing the Human Resource Management could be a great step towards the bright future. Additionally, I am working as HR in Microsoft, and I did the similar course and subject from Amity University itself, therefore I ended up getting decent job and so you will.
Lastly, the most important thing to consider while applying for the course is application process, which it is bit complicated, and you can only apply on university website. Unfortunately, the offline admissions have been stopped recently, if you need any assistance for applying the course don't hesitate to call me.
Excited to see you on Christmas Eve next week and will talk more about this opportunity.
Warm Regards,
Tim Cook

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, recommending the university, and providing advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, when mentioning the application process, you describe it as 'complicated' but do not provide specific, helpful advice beyond mentioning the website. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detail, such as specific documents needed or tips on how to prepare for the application, rather than just stating that it is difficult.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'First of all', 'Additionally', and 'Lastly', which help guide the reader through the text. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the sentence '...therefore I ended up getting decent job and so you will' is slightly awkward and impacts the overall cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is precise would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'renowned for its Management faculty' and 'pursuing the Human Resource Management' are appropriate. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing awesome' (informal/unnatural), 'studying the similar subject' (should be 'the same subject'), and 'getting decent job' (missing an article). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring articles are used correctly. Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'from same university which I studied' (missing articles and relative pronoun usage), 'if you need any assistance for applying the course' (preposition error: 'applying for'), and 'which it is bit complicated' (redundant pronoun). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
