Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Samarth,
Hey! How have you been? I hope you are doing good. I am writing to express my advice for the same university course that you have asked from me.
To begin with, I would like to share the overview of the university course. Firstly, the course that you have applied is of 12 months Master's course in Business Analytics and AI at Ontario Tech University. Moreover, I would definitely recommend you to opt this course because the tuition fee is way cheaper comparatively than other universities. Furthermore, you will not only learn the complex theories easily but also get the hands-on experience on new technologies under the assistance of certified professors.
I would like you to visit the online website of Ontario Tech University, where you would able to fill the form of application by giving all information of yours. Should you require any further information. Please, don't hesitate if you want any further information.
Hope you get the offer letter of the same course at it's earliest. Can't wait to see you here.
Warm regards,
Keertan Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: it describes the Master's course in Business Analytics and AI, explains the benefits of the university, and provides clear application advice. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and helpful persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. The response is well-structured, ensuring that the reader receives all the necessary information requested in the prompt. No parts of the task were omitted, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. The use of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' helps to guide the reader through the text. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics requested. While some transitions are slightly mechanical, the overall flow of information is smooth and easy to follow. The referencing is generally clear, and the letter maintains a consistent focus on the topic throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and conveys the intended meaning clearly. There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'express my advice' (should be 'give my advice') and 'opt this course' (should be 'opt for this course'). However, the student uses some topic-specific vocabulary like 'tuition fee', 'hands-on experience', and 'certified professors'. The range is sufficient to communicate ideas effectively, though it lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic collocations that would be expected at a higher band level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'the course that you have applied is of 12 months' (should be 'the course you have applied for is a 12-month course') and 'where you would able to' (missing 'be'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing errors, such as 'at it's earliest' (should be 'at its earliest'). Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the communication remains effective throughout the letter.
