Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You provided details about the course, explained why you recommend the university, and offered advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To improve, you could provide more specific details about the course content or the university experience to better develop your ideas. For instance, instead of just mentioning 'lab classes', you could briefly describe a specific project or skill gained. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'In addition', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the course description and the university recommendation is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'this institution guarantee a job', which would be better phrased as 'this institution guarantees'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pursue', 'significantly high', and 'assistance'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'end up with' is slightly informal and 'demand of this field' should be 'demand for this field'. Additionally, there are minor errors such as 'one of the best thing' (should be 'things') and 'institution guarantee' (should be 'guarantees'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic or professional collocations and ensure subject-verb agreement when using complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('the' before 'Environment Health'), incorrect verb forms ('last semester end up' should be 'ends up'), and punctuation issues. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'it might end September if you chose to join coming intake August'. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
