Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Rutvi,
I hope you are doing well. I has been long time that we did't meet. I heard that you are planning to apply for the course which I took. I got really excited once I got to know that you are thinking about my university.
I definitely suggest to choose my university for this course specifically. I know that you want to study Machine Learning deeply and my course is completely covers all important subjects and topics. In further, we have intelligent and kind professors who helps us and explain whenever we booked session even though there is no class. Moreover, our university has attractive structure and interior which you will love. Apart from classes, the canteen area is amazing where we both can play our favourite game chess and other board games as well. Additionally, at back of the college, there is huge trail and beautiful garden where you can spend time to find a peace and enjoy the weather.
I would say try to apply as soon as possible because there are very limited seats available right now and don't forget to attach your documents which are necessary otherwise it will affect your process.
Alright, you need more help and information then you can reach out to me anytime. I will see you soon.
Best wishes,
Rutu

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You provided details about the Machine Learning course, explained why the university is recommended by highlighting the supportive professors and campus environment, and gave practical advice on the application process. The tone is appropriately informal for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when mentioning the application process, you could have specified which documents are typically required to make the advice more concrete and helpful.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Apart from' to link your points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different requirements of the task. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly awkward transition in the final paragraph ('Alright, you need more help...'). Improving the variety of your linking phrases would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'specifically', 'limited seats', and 'attractive structure'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it is somewhat basic. There are occasional inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'find a peace' (should be 'find peace') and 'my course is completely covers' (should be 'my course completely covers'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to show a greater degree of flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I has been long time that we did't meet' (should be 'It has been a long time since we met') and 'professors who helps us' (should be 'professors who help us'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are areas that require more attention. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score in this criterion.
