Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Jhon,
I was delighted to hear that you are considering applying for the same university course that I completed. Since you asked for my advice, I would strongly recommend both the course and the university.
I studied a Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy, which combined with theoretical and practical knowledge with extensive practical training. The course covered subjects such as anatomy, rehabilitation, exercise therapy and patient care. What I particuarly enjoyed was the opportunity to develop hands-on skills, which helped me gain confidence and prepare for professional career.
I would definitely recommend this university because of its not only excellent teaching facilities but also supportive learning evrironment. In addition, the lecturers were highly knowledgeable and always willing to help students who needed additional guidance. Moreover, the university provided modern laboratories and valuable opportunities for practical experience, making the course both interesting and useful.
As for application process, I suggest that you visit the university's offical website and carefully check the entry requirement and application deadlines. You should prepare all the necessary documents well in advanced, especially your academic certificates and language test results.
I am sure you would enjoy studying there. Let me know if you need any further help with your application.
Best wishes,
Hani

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided clear details about your physiotherapy course, explained the benefits of the university environment, and offered practical, actionable advice regarding the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader receives a comprehensive response to their request. No parts of the task were omitted, and the letter follows the required structure effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized, with a clear progression of ideas from the course description to the application advice. Each paragraph has a central focus, and you have used a variety of cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'As for' to link your points smoothly. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the transition between the introduction, body, and conclusion is natural. The use of referencing is clear, ensuring the reader can easily follow your train of thought throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for the context, such as 'theoretical and practical knowledge', 'rehabilitation', and 'knowledgeable'. While there are a few minor spelling errors like 'particuarly', 'evrironment', and 'offical', these do not impede communication. You use some less common collocations effectively, such as 'hands-on skills' and 'academic certificates'. To reach a higher band, ensure that you proofread for small slips in spelling, as these minor inaccuracies slightly detract from the overall professional quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. For example, the sentence 'What I particuarly enjoyed was the opportunity to develop hands-on skills, which helped me gain confidence...' shows good control of complex grammar. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'combined with theoretical and practical knowledge with' (which should be 'combined theoretical... with') and 'well in advanced' (which should be 'well in advance'). However, the majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation and tense is generally strong, which ensures clarity.
