Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the Master's in Medical Imaging, explain the benefits of the University of London, and provide practical advice regarding the application portal and required documents. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a helpful and encouraging persona throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the 'principles and applications' mentioned to further demonstrate your familiarity with the course content.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the course description to the university's reputation and finally to the application process. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Regarding application' and 'I hope you find' to link sections. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. To improve, you could use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that transitions between sentences are smoother, as some sentences feel slightly disconnected, such as the transition between the course description and the university ranking.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'unmatched course,' 'provisional certificate,' and 'career support system.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'the forms the bridge' (should be 'that forms') and 'country of the UK' (which is redundant). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more precise collocations and avoiding minor errors in word choice would enhance your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'This is an unmatched course the forms' contains a relative pronoun error, and 'This course contains six subject that is divided' contains subject-verb agreement errors ('subjects' and 'are'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct relative clause usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
