Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: it mentions the Artificial Intelligence course, explains why the university is recommended, and provides advice on the application process. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the course is vague, focusing more on the student's background than the actual content of the studies. The advice on applying is also quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the course modules or your personal experience, and offer more concrete, step-by-step guidance on the application process to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' requirement of higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is present, though the paragraphs are somewhat short and could be better linked. You use some cohesive devices like 'not only... but also' and 'either... or', but the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects smoothly to the next, creating a more cohesive narrative throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety needed for a higher score. You use some basic terms repeatedly, such as 'help' and 'course'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'promonent place' (prominent) and 'pass out from their' (graduate from there). While the meaning is clear, the range is limited. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to academic settings, such as 'curriculum', 'prestigious institution', or 'admissions procedure', and pay closer attention to spelling and word choice accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement ('it keep you safe'), article usage ('the world consider you'), and prepositions ('go their' instead of 'go there'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical rules, particularly verb forms and sentence construction, and aim for more error-free sentences in your writing.
