Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ujwal,
my heart fills with joy whenever i recieve your letter. I hope you are doing well. I heard that you are tensed about the subject you are thinking to choose. Which i did at university.
I finished my study of Financial study as main subject. Although. there are a lot of mathematics calculation. However, it is interesting to understand. It really helps to grow in your life in future by opening multiple doors for your career not only in banking sector .
Honestly, For this subject, choosing the International business university is top choice due to my expirience. The professor of this university is excelent in this subject. Moreover, they also attend seminar in others university as chief guest. They will help you too learn deep about the finances and teach you necessary skills for your long term growth.
You should apply for an aappointment through university portal. Then they clear your all questions regarding the admission process. Which helps you a lot.
I know you brilliant in calculation and you can do it easily. give my greetings to your parents. meet you soon.
Your friend,
Ravi Ravi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the course, recommending the university, and providing application advice. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the course is 'Financial study,' you could have provided more specific details about the modules or the workload to make the advice more helpful. Similarly, the advice on how to apply is quite brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more descriptive detail or personal insight.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or incorrect. For example, starting sentences with 'Although.' and 'However,' as fragments is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Additionally, the transition between the course description and the university recommendation could be smoother. While the overall message is clear, the logical progression between sentences is occasionally hindered by these structural issues.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'recieve' (receive), 'tensed' (nervous/anxious), and 'excelent' (excellent). Some phrasing is also unnatural, such as 'Financial study as main subject' instead of 'Finance as my major.' While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the errors are frequent enough to occasionally distract the reader. Focusing on accurate spelling and more natural collocations will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
Your writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('you brilliant' instead of 'you are brilliant'), sentence fragments ('Although. there are a lot of mathematics calculation.'), and misuse of articles ('an aappointment'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of periods and commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent and indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic sentence construction.
