Dear .................. ,
Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Sam,
I hear you're trying to get into Data Analysis which I've studied from University of Queens. I must say that's a great choice.
I took this Post Graduate course in Data analysis two years ago in which Data manipulation, Data designed in Dashboards were the main sections throughout the course. It was more about making sense of detailing the information we have from data retrieved, and building a platform where companies get to see where they are heading, and which sectors they are lacking. It is really a game-changer for business tactics and sales configuration.
Studying this post graduation from University of Queens would be a cherry on top because you'd get an opportunity to work with a real client who needs answers for their questions specifically based on daily sales or operations using your academic aspects. Not only this, you won't need to pay anything extra for learning technical such as Python, Java, etc as they offer it free-of-cost at this campus.
I'd suggest you to go through the website and fill the application form, sign the submission, and get this sent over to their student support email. Plus, keep an eagle eye on your mailbox at all times.
Warm regards,
NAB

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the Data Analysis course, provide a compelling reason for recommending the university (the practical client experience and free technical training), and offer actionable advice on the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and informal register throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader receives a comprehensive response to their request for advice. No parts of the task are omitted, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the outset.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The progression of ideas is smooth, moving from the course description to the benefits of the university, and finally to the application steps. You use cohesive devices such as 'Not only this' and 'Plus' to link ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct topics. While the flow is generally natural, a slightly wider variety of linking words could enhance the sophistication of the transitions between sentences, but the current structure is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, such as 'Data manipulation', 'game-changer', and 'business tactics'. There are some minor inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'Data designed in Dashboards' (which is slightly awkward) and 'learning technical' (which should be 'technical skills'). However, these do not impede communication. You use some idiomatic expressions like 'cherry on top' and 'eagle eye', which fit the informal tone well. To reach a higher band, focus on refining word choices to ensure they sound more natural in a professional or academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'I've studied from University of Queens' (should be 'at the University of Queens') and 'Studying this post graduation' (should be 'postgraduate course'). Additionally, 'get this sent over' is a bit informal, though acceptable in this context. The majority of your sentences are clear and error-free, and your punctuation is generally accurate. To improve, pay closer attention to preposition usage and noun-adjective agreement to ensure higher precision in your writing.
