Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear smith,
I a happy to hear that you are applying same course where I completed my course. I would love to share my experience and give some advice that might be helpful in your course.
The course I took was a Master of business administration. It was a three year program that covered subjects such as Statistics, Marketing Management, supply chain management, Human resource management, Accounting. The course mixes of theorical knowledge and practical knowledge, which helped me develop problem solving skills and analytical skills.
I highly recommend this university because of its excellent academic reputation and learning environment. The lecturer were knowledgeable and helpful. Moreover, In this university have modern facilities and well-equipped computer labs.
As for the application process, I suggest that you start preparing your documents as early as possible. Make sure you have all academic transcripts, letters and personal documents complete and well organized. When writing your personal statement, focus on your interest in the subjects and that align with your future goal.
I hope the suggestion is helpful if you decide to apply. Let me know if you need any further suggestion from my side.
Your Faithfully,
Vrushti patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details about the MBA course, explained the reasons for your recommendation, and offered clear, actionable advice regarding the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the information is relevant and well-developed. To reach a higher band, ensure that you expand slightly more on the 'why' behind your recommendations to provide a more personal touch, as the current explanation of the university's facilities is a bit generic. Overall, the task is fully covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'As for the application process' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother. For instance, the transition between discussing the course content and the university environment could be more integrated. Paragraphing is used correctly, which helps the reader follow your points easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly. You use subject-specific terms like 'academic transcripts', 'analytical skills', and 'well-equipped'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'theorical knowledge' (should be 'theoretical') and 'In this university have' (grammatically incorrect structure). You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and ensure precise word forms. Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'I a happy' (missing verb), 'the lecturer were' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'that align with' (missing subject). Additionally, the closing 'Your Faithfully' is incorrect for a letter to a friend; 'Yours sincerely' or 'Best wishes' would be more appropriate. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
