Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: it describes the Computer Programming course, explains the benefits of the university, and provides clear steps for the application process. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a consistent informal yet informative style. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, providing enough detail to satisfy the task requirements. The response is well-structured and covers all aspects of the prompt without any omissions, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the course description to the university benefits and finally the application process. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'Once you' are used effectively to link sentences and ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be slightly more refined. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the message.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more specific terminology like 'enroll', 'faculty', and 'portal'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'vide range' (should be 'wide range') and 'sleeping room' (which sounds unnatural; 'rest area' or 'lounge' would be better). The use of 'you' instead of 'your' in 'you further education' and 'you future' are minor slips that do not impede communication but suggest a need for more careful proofreading. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Learning at this university have' (subject-verb agreement: should be 'has'), 'All faculty is' (should be 'The faculty are'), and 'requires to successfully complete' (should be 'requires you to complete'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the letter. The punctuation is generally accurate, and the sentence variety is sufficient for the task. Improving control over subject-verb agreement and article usage would help elevate the score in this criterion.
