The university has designed it in a modular system to make it comprehendable for students, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry in the first 2 years, followed by pathology, pharmacology, community medicine, along with forensic medicine in 3rd year. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response successfully covers all bullet points of the task prompt. You clearly outlined the details of your medical and surgery course, including the duration of five years plus one year of internship and the modular structure with specific subjects mentioned. Furthermore, you explained why you recommend the university by highlighting its state-of-the-art facilities, multimedia setups, well-equipped labs, and supportive professors. Lastly, you provided clear encouragement regarding the application process. The tone of the letter is friendly, appropriate for a friend, and the purpose of the letter is fully achieved. Ideas are well-developed and all parts of the prompt are addressed thoroughly, earning a strong band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into well-defined paragraphs that transition smoothly from the greeting and introduction to course details, university features, and a concluding remark. Cohesive devices are used appropriately, such as 'This is my first year', 'followed by', and 'Remaining 2 years'. Paragraphing is handled sufficiently, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt. However, referencing is occasionally slightly informal or abrupt, but overall ideas flow logically and the organization supports easy reading throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient and generally appropriate range of vocabulary relevant to the topic of university studies and medicine, using terms like 'modular system', 'affiliated teaching hospital', 'pathology', and 'clinical medicine'. However, there is a spelling error ('comprehendable' instead of 'comprehensible') and a minor punctuation/capitalization slip ('i' instead of 'I'). While you attempt some less common lexical items, there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'your decision is right as well the choice of the university'. These minor errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the score from reaching higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as participial phrases ('especially that you are choosing my university as well') and compound sentences. There are some minor grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, such as a comma splice in the opening sentence ('...finds you well, I am really happy...') and lowercase 'i'. Another minor slip is 'It is a 5 years program', which should use the singular noun modifier '5-year program'. Despite these errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and communication is never impeded. The majority of sentences are constructed correctly.
