Dear Daman,
I hope you're doing great! I'm writing this letter to give you some advice on the course that I recently completed from Lovely professional University Jalandhar. I completed a two year Diploma in cosmetology there and I've learned several professional skills such as hair cutting and styling, skin care and facials, along with professional and business skills.
I really want to recommend this University to you as I know you have a passion for becoming a professional makeup artist and I think this university will be a great opportunity for you to pursue your studies. This is because this University not only offers you the theoretical knowledge of makeup skills but it also gives you a chance to gain hands on experience. In addition to this, University authorities also run beauty peagents every year where you can show your skills in front of the top five Makeup artist of India that will provide you a sense of satisfaction as well as career growth scopes.
If you want to apply for this University program then either you can search it online on their website where you can find an application form for demo classes or you can also visit the University's student help desk and a staff can provide you all the details in person. You can apply for one week Demo classes for free and then they will provide you a timeline of two weeks to make your final decision.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The candidate successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. First, the details of the course are clearly given, mentioning the two-year Diploma in cosmetology, along with specific subjects learned such as hair cutting and styling, skin care, and facials. Second, the recommendation for the university is well explained, highlighting the balance of theoretical knowledge, hands-on experience, and exciting extracurricular opportunities like beauty pageants. Third, clear advice about the application process is provided, including searching online, visiting the student help desk, and taking advantage of one-week free demo classes. The tone is appropriately friendly and consistent throughout the letter. The response fully satisfies all requirements of the task, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear progression from the introduction and course details to the university recommendation, application advice, and a warm closing. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating distinct ideas into readable blocks. Cohesive devices are managed well, using phrases like 'along with professional and business skills', 'In addition to this', and 'If you want to apply'. Referencing is clear and unambiguous. While the cohesion is generally smooth, it occasionally lacks the sophisticated subtlety found at the highest band levels, representing a very competent use of paragraphing and signposting.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The candidate demonstrates a sufficient and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for the task. Less common terms and phrases such as 'theoretical knowledge', 'hands-on experience', and 'career growth scopes' are used effectively. There are occasional minor word choice or collocation slips, such as 'beauty peagents' (spelling error) and 'Makeup artist' (pluralisation error), but these do not impede communication. The tone remains appropriately informal and encouraging while discussing professional topics, showing a good level of lexical flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The writer uses a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over relative clauses and conditional structures, as seen in 'I really want to recommend this University to you as I know you have a passion for becoming a professional makeup artist'. There are some minor grammatical inaccuracies and punctuation slips, such as 'Can't wait to see you to reach your dream goals' (awkward infinitive use) and capitalization issues like 'University'. However, the majority of sentences are error-free, and control of grammar and punctuation is generally strong enough to ensure smooth communication without causing strain for the reader.
