Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points of the task. They gave clear details of the course, including the subject, duration, and structure such as 'practical projects, case studies, and a final internship'. They explained why they recommend the university by mentioning 'supportive and experienced' lectures and excellent facilities like a 'well equipped Library'. Finally, they provided practical advice about how to apply, including applying early through the online portal and preparing necessary documents like academic transcripts and a personal statement. The tone is appropriate for writing to a friend, and all ideas are fully developed and relevant to the prompt, easily meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. The response is divided into logical sections: greeting and introduction, course details and university recommendation, application advice, and a friendly sign-off. Cohesive devices and referencing are used reasonably well to connect ideas, such as 'a part from theory classes' and 'Regarding the application'. However, the paragraphing is a bit dense, combining the course description and university recommendation into one very long paragraph instead of separating them for better readability. Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization oversights that make the flow slightly mechanical in places. Overall, the organisation is clear, supporting a Band 6.5 score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating subject-specific terms such as 'bachelor's in business management', 'marketing, finance, human resource management', and 'personal statement'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'entrepreneurship' and 'extensively useful'. However, there are notable lexical and spelling errors, such as 'collage' instead of 'college', 'lectures' instead of 'lecturers', and informal phrasing like 'a part from' instead of 'apart from'. Despite these slips, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient for a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as relative clauses ('shree Saraswati secondary which is a three year programme') and conditional or participial clauses. However, there are significant punctuation and capitalization issues throughout the text, including lowercase letters at the beginning of sentences ('i was so Happy', 'i completed', 'a part from') and comma splices or run-on sentences ('experienced, and the facilities', 'transcripts citizenship certificate'). While there is a good attempt at complex structures, the frequency of basic punctuation and capitalization errors prevents the grammar score from reaching higher, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0.
