Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, covering the course details, the reasons for recommending the university, and advice about how to apply. However, some areas are developed more fully than others. For instance, the details of the course, such as the bachelor in chemical science, duration, and facilities, are quite clear and relevant. Conversely, the advice about how to apply is somewhat brief and repetitive, focusing mostly on online applications and limited seats without exploring the full procedure in depth. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout, matching the requirements of a letter to a friend, but certain ideas remain slightly under-developed, keeping the task response at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical division into paragraphs that separate the different parts of the prompt, such as course details and application advice. The opening and closing are correctly formatted for a personal letter. However, the use of cohesive devices is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, transitional phrases like 'Also with that,' and 'Now i will tell you by you take addmission' feel awkward and disrupt the smooth progression of ideas. Referencing and linking between sentences could be more naturally managed to achieve a higher degree of fluency. Despite these minor issues in cohesion, the overall message remains easy to follow from beginning to end.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday ideas and course-related concepts such as 'practical knowledge,' 'industrial visit,' and 'certified scientist.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a limited and repetitive lexical range. Words such as 'laboratary,' 'addmission,' 'camous,' and 'arivnd' contain basic spelling mistakes. Additionally, repetitive phrasing like 'Take addmission' and awkward collocations such as 'for better theirlearning' indicate a struggle with precision and word formation. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score, as the writer relies heavily on basic terms and makes frequent lexical slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, such as 'The university where I study is one the best university ariund northern side of the India.' There are, however, frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include subject-verb agreement errors like 'There's always monthly tests have been conducted,' article omission such as 'an library,' and awkward prepositions or verb forms like 'I am hoping for you having healthy life' and 'why you recommend.' Although the writer attempts various sentence structures, these persistent grammatical errors in tense control, articles, and prepositions cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the grammatical range and accuracy firmly in this category.
