Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt only partially, meaning some of the required bullet points are limited and under-developed. While you attempt to give details of the course you took by mentioning Health sciences and its various faculties like pharmacy and nursing, your explanation of why you recommend the university relies heavily on general, repetitive statements such as the teaching staff being the best in the state, without offering specific, well-developed examples. Similarly, your advice on how to apply is very vague, telling your friend to study hard and add value to their time, rather than providing concrete steps on the actual application process. To move higher, you need to ensure all parts of the prompt are fully covered with well-supported, extended ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation to the letter, beginning with a standard salutation and moving through your points, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is handled awkwardly, with several very short, single-sentence paragraphs that disrupt the natural flow of a letter. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, such as the frequent repetition of best and the university without smooth referencing pronouns. To improve, you should group related ideas together into cohesive paragraphs and use a wider, more natural range of linking words to guide the reader clearly through your thoughts from start to finish.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate to convey your basic message. You attempt some less common words and subject-specific terms such as faculties, radiology, and nutritian, but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, terms like taking admission, graduted, and instutite contain spelling mistakes and unnatural collocations. Expressions like with the core of heart are unnatural translations. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary range, use more precise academic or semi-formal phrasing suitable for a friendly letter, and pay closer attention to accurate spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. Attempts at more complex structures are often faulty, such as in the sentence because of this university teaching staff is best in state, which misses necessary articles and prepositions. You also make frequent errors with verb forms and tenses, such as feel better in your life and are graduted. Punctuation and basic agreement issues also persist throughout the text. To improve your grammar score, you should work on building complex sentence forms accurately, mastering verb tense consistency, and ensuring that articles and prepositions are correctly placed within your grammatical patterns.
