Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sarah,

Hope you are doing well. I am writing in response to asked about my suggestion that you need to take admission in my university with same course which I have done last year.

As you know, I completed my graduation in Business Adminstration. After done my study, I got a job according to my field and now I work full-time as a retail assistant. The business admintration course provides a wide range of opportunities such as customer representative and in marketing.

Furthermore, I suggest you to take admisssion in same university because it has numerous benefits which help to students. Initially, it has excellent study environment and affordable course fees. Moreover, the campus also arrange scholarship to learners who got good grades in their previous education.

In addition, I would like to advice you due to a large number of applications and avoid late registration fees, you can apply online and fill your application form. Alternatively, you can visit at university campus for further inquiries about your admission process.

I hope you will consider my suggestions.

Best wishes,

Harman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you identify your Business Administration course, give reasons for recommending the university, and offer application advice. The recommendation is supported with relevant details, including the study environment, fees and scholarships. However, the course description is only partly developed: mentioning possible careers does not explain what you studied or what the course involved. The application advice is also quite general; you could make it more useful by specifying documents to prepare, deadlines to check, or whom to contact. The letter’s friendly purpose is clear, but a little more personal detail and fuller explanation of these points would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it opens with its purpose, then discusses your course, recommends the university, and gives application advice before closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In addition” make the progression visible. This meets the expected level of coherent organisation. However, some transitions feel mechanical because several paragraphs begin with a connector, and the relationship between ideas is not always smooth—for example, the sentence about your job moves quickly from your graduation to your current role and then to course opportunities. Use a wider range of natural links and make references between sentences clearer to create more fluent progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points, with relevant terms such as “scholarship,” “application form,” and “admission process.” You also attempt phrases suited to the topic, including “study environment” and “a wide range of opportunities.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “Adminstration,” “admintration,” and “admisssion.” Some combinations are unnatural or unclear, such as “take admission” and “the campus also arrange scholarship.” The range is also somewhat repetitive, particularly around “course,” “university,” and “apply.” Aim to learn accurate spelling and natural collocations as complete phrases, and choose more precise wording when describing course content and career options.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because it has numerous benefits” and a relative clause in “learners who got good grades.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, sentence construction, and articles. For example, “I am writing in response to asked” needs a subject and a correctly formed verb phrase, while “After done my study” requires a different structure. In “the campus also arrange,” the verb does not agree with its subject. The long application-advice sentence also joins ideas awkwardly. Practise accurate verb patterns and agreement, and divide complex advice into shorter, well-formed sentences.
