Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sumit,
I hope you're doing well. I am writing to give you advice regarding the course you are thinking to apply at the university where I've done the same course.
As you know, I've graduated from Toronto University last year and my course was of two years diploma in International Business Management. I consider myself greateful because this diploma has tough me several important business lessions.
First of all, teachers are well educated and helpful. As I remember, they use to help me apart from their working hours. Secondly, the campus of the university is huge, beautiful and advance. You can find all types of facilities there.
There are two ways to apply for this course. You can get the addmisision form reception or you can apply online at the official website of the Toronto University. After filling all the details in the form the last thing is the fee payment which you can either pay by cash or card.
I hope you found my advice helpful.
Yours faithfully,
Shubhpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you identify the two-year International Business Management diploma, recommend the university by mentioning its helpful teachers and facilities, and explain two application routes with payment options. The advice is relevant and the friendly opening suits the task. The course details and application steps are reasonably specific, but the recommendation is less fully supported: “all types of facilities” is broad, and you could name examples or explain how the teaching and campus benefited your studies. The application advice would also be more useful if you mentioned checking entry requirements or submitting supporting documents. This covers the task well overall, while some ideas remain general rather than fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce your purpose, describe the course, give reasons for recommending the university, and finish with application advice and a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these distinct points, and “First of all” and “Secondly” signal the recommendation section. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the short paragraphs read more like a list of points than a connected personal letter. The transition from the university’s facilities to application methods could be smoother, and “As you know” does not clearly connect to the course details that follow. Use a wider range of natural links and clearer references between ideas to make the progression more fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main information, including course-related terms such as “International Business Management,” “diploma,” and “official website.” There are also some noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reduce precision, including “greateful,” “tough me,” “lessions,” and “addmisision.” Some phrases are understandable but not idiomatic: “thinking to apply” and “the campus ... is ... advance” would benefit from more natural wording. “All types of facilities” is also vague. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your advice, but accurate spelling, more natural collocations, and a few precise examples would strengthen your vocabulary control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, such as “After filling all the details in the form the last thing is the fee payment,” and the message remains clear. Some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction. For example, “the course you are thinking to apply” needs a different grammatical pattern, while “I've graduated ... last year” uses a tense that does not fit the finished time reference. “As I remember, they use to help me” also needs a more suitable past-tense form. The sentence about filling in the form would be clearer with punctuation after its opening phrase. More accurate control of these patterns, alongside your existing sentence variety, would improve the letter.
