Dear .................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Palak,

Thanks for your letter in which you asked me about the course I completed last year.

I would like to recommend you Master of Computer Applications from Kurukshetra University which is located near your city Kaithal. It is a two-year programme covering programming, databases, and web development. This course offers the opportunity to apply for software developer's job in MNC's and I know that you want to be a software developer from many years. Moreover , this specific university allows you hybrid classes so you can attend as per your convenience and score better as the teachers are very cooperative.

However , you can apply through their online portal and is quiet easier and you don't need to be present physically at campus during registration process. You can consider this as one of the postive experience from this university as every step can be processed online without stepping in . Moreover , I am planning to see you on the festival of Diwali which is next month and we can discuss further details there.

Best Wishes,

Aakash

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you identify the two-year Master of Computer Applications and its subjects, explain the university’s location and hybrid classes, and describe applying through the online portal. The advice is relevant to Palak’s goal of becoming a software developer, which helps make the letter personal. To make the response more fully developed, explain more specifically what makes the teaching or course quality recommendable, and give practical application details such as documents to prepare or when to apply. The application advice is currently brief, and the claim that online registration is a positive experience is not supported with much detail. The Diwali invitation is appropriate for a friendly letter, but could be more clearly linked to discussing the application.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening, a paragraph about the course and university, a paragraph about applying and meeting, and a suitable sign-off. The ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” help connect related points. However, “Moreover” is repeated, and “However” does not express a clear contrast with the preceding recommendation. Some connections between ideas are abrupt, particularly the move from online registration to the Diwali plan. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make the relationship between each point explicit. Paragraphing is functional, though separating course details from reasons for recommending the university could make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a friendly letter about university study, including relevant terms such as “programme,” “databases,” “web development,” and “online portal.” The reader can understand the main message, and the subject-specific vocabulary is useful. Some word choices and collocations are less natural, however: “apply for software developer’s job” and “from many years” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically, while “quiet easier” appears to be a spelling error for “quite easier.” “Positive experience” is also vague in this context. Aim for more precise, natural phrases and check spelling and apostrophes, especially in “MNC’s.” These refinements would make the letter sound more fluent and polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause “in which you asked me” and the explanation beginning “as the teachers are very cooperative.” Most of the message remains understandable, and errors do not generally prevent communication. Some grammatical problems are present, though. In “I would like to recommend you Master…,” the verb pattern needs an object such as “recommend the course to you.” “You can apply through their online portal and is…” also shifts incorrectly from “you” to “is”; keep the subject consistent, for example, “the process is quite easy.” Review articles, prepositions, and sentence punctuation, including spacing before commas, to improve accuracy.
