Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Nav,

I hope you are doing well. I'm glad to hear about you are thinking about to studying the same courses in the university which I did. It is good for me to share my experience about course with you.

I did the communication course in the university. During this course I learnt different types of communicatioin styles which is beneficial for me. In this course every communication style is explained where and when we use what types of communication style.

I recommend my university for study as professors are not only helpful but also very supportive. They always use different types of techniques to teach the students such as both audio as well as visual. They divide the learners into team which help to build team mates skills.

To apply in this university for this couse is very easy. I give you number as well as e mail id of our cacdemic advisor who will help to you for applying and discuss about fees structure.

Yours faithfully,

Qwerty

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you identify the communication course, explain that supportive professors and audio-visual teaching are reasons to choose the university, and offer contact details for an academic adviser as an application route. The advice is relevant, but some parts are less fully developed than others. For example, the course description gives a general account of communication styles without mentioning its content in more detail, and the application advice does not explain what documents or steps your friend should prepare. The recommendation is understandable, though adding a specific example of how the teaching or support helped you would make it more convincing. Overall, the letter fulfils the task, with some ideas needing clearer explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, separate paragraphs about the course and university, application advice, and a closing. This makes the main points easy to locate, and phrases such as “I recommend my university” signal the purpose of the next paragraph. The progression is generally logical, and the paragraphs each focus on a relevant topic. However, some links between ideas are basic or slightly awkward, as in “They divide the learners into team which help to build team mates skills.” The final paragraph also moves quickly from applying to providing contact details. To strengthen the organisation further, connect the advice steps more explicitly and use clearer references when explaining how the adviser can help.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “communication styles,” “professors,” “audio,” “visual,” and “academic advisor.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which is consistent with this level. For example, “same courses” is less precise than “same course,” “techniques to teach” could be expressed more naturally as “teaching methods,” and “discuss about fees structure” uses an unsuitable combination. There are also spelling errors such as “communicatioin,” “couse,” and “cacdemic,” which reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common phrases for university study and applications, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “I recommend my university for study as professors are not only helpful but also very supportive.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, and articles. For instance, “I'm glad to hear about you are thinking about to studying” combines incompatible patterns; “styles which is beneficial” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “They divide the learners into team which help” needs plural forms and clearer agreement. The closing “Yours faithfully” is also less suitable for a friend than an informal sign-off. Practise common verb patterns and check each sentence for agreement and article use.
