Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Daniyal,
I'm glad you're considering to apply for Computer Science at IBA! My experience at IBA has been amazing and I hope the information I am about to provide would help you make your decision. CS is a 4 year degree. It is mandatory for a student to complete 130 credit hours and do a 2 month internship before the 7th semester. You have 14 Computer Science courses, 7 Mathematical courses and 6 humanities. Furthermore you can choose from a variety of electives in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber, Robotics and Data Science. Most courses involve some sort of programming and theory.
IBA has the perfect balance of education and extra-curricular activities. The faculty is the best in the city. Teachers appreciate involvement in lectures through questions and allow students to visit them in office hours if any further queries arise. Moreover, the campus consists of a basketball court, cricket ground, tennis court and an indoor swimming pool. There are numerous societies you could participate in according to your liking. Students usually participate in event management and public speaking.
Lastly, I would suggest you to apply in the Early Bird phase. That way you will get a discount on the admission test fee and your test centre will be the main campus istead of the infamous city campus which is far away from your place.
I hope the information I provided and my advice would be of some use to you. Feel free to connect with me on call if there are any further questions. I can also arrange a campus if you want to see the facilities in person.
All the best,
Muhammad Ali Noorani

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The letter addresses all three requested points clearly and in an appropriate, friendly tone. You give concrete course details, including its duration, credit requirements, internship, subject areas and electives; you also explain the university’s appeal through its faculty, facilities and societies. Your application advice is specific and gives a reason for applying in the Early Bird phase. The closing offer to answer questions and arrange a campus visit further supports the purpose of the letter. The ideas are well developed overall, with only a small opportunity to make the application guidance more complete—for example, mention where to find the application information or what documents to prepare.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The letter is organised effectively: the opening establishes the purpose, the following paragraphs cover course content and university benefits, and the final sections give advice and close warmly. Sequencing is easy to follow, and transitions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “Lastly” help connect points. Paragraphing is appropriate and the reader can readily distinguish the different parts of the message. Some linking is a little formulaic, however, and the course-details paragraph reads partly as a list of facts. You could improve the flow by grouping related details and using more varied, natural links between them, while keeping the clear overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 7.0
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the course and university, including “credit hours,” “electives,” “faculty,” “involvement,” and “facilities.” These choices communicate the information clearly, and the friendly register suits a letter to a friend. There is some flexibility in phrases such as “perfect balance” and “according to your liking,” although a few expressions are less natural or precise: “considering to apply,” “a campus” when offering a visit, and “infamous city campus.” The spelling “istead” is also a noticeable slip. More idiomatic collocations and precise descriptions would strengthen the vocabulary while preserving the approachable tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
The response includes a useful mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and relative structures: “That way you will get a discount…” and “societies you could participate in…” Many sentences are accurate and punctuation generally supports readability. A few grammatical patterns need attention. In “considering to apply,” use a gerund after “considering” (“considering applying”); “I would suggest you to apply” should be “I would suggest that you apply” or “I would advise you to apply.” In “if there are any further questions,” the intended meaning may be clearer as “if you have any further questions.” These errors do not obscure the message, but checking verb patterns and clause phrasing would improve control.
