Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Aman,
I am writing this letter to letting you know about the management course in which you are thinking about enrolling . Actually, I took the same course at the punjabi university last year and have completed this year. So, it is a one year course. It includes both theortical and pratical knowledge. Moreover, it is course all about management, how it works.
Furthermore, i will suggest you to take this course from the university because there are many job placements at the end of the year and many international companies come to hire employees. Therefore, it is benefical for your future to get better job to take it the reputable university.
You can apply for this course you not only apply online, you can also apply in person. You just need to fill the enrollement Form, which includes you personal information, formal eduction and job history.
Yours sincerely
Manpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you identify the management course and its one-year duration, recommend the university because of its job placements and visiting companies, and explain that an applicant can apply online or in person. The purpose and friendly tone are clear. However, some details are less fully developed than others. The course description—“how it works”—is vague, and the application advice does not say where to find the form, what documents to prepare, or when to apply. The recommendation would also be more convincing with a specific reason for the university’s reputation or a brief personal example. Adding a little practical detail to these points would make the letter more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the course, gives reasons for recommending the university, and then turns to application advice. Paragraph breaks help the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Therefore” show how ideas relate. This coherent organisation meets the expected level, and the progression is generally easy to follow. To make the cohesion more natural and flexible, avoid relying on several formal connectors in a personal letter and use clearer links between related points. For example, the transition from the course’s content to the recommendation could be smoother, while the final application paragraph would benefit from a more direct sequence of steps.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “management course,” “job placements,” “international companies,” and “personal information.” However, the range is limited, and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “theortical,” “pratical,” “benefical,” “enrollement,” and “eduction.” Phrases such as “it is course all about management” and “get better job” are also awkward or imprecise. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they make the letter less natural. Build accuracy with common course and application collocations, and proofread spelling carefully; more precise wording would help you express the course content and benefits clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the contrast in “you can not only apply online, you can also apply in person” and the relative clause beginning “which includes.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I am writing this letter to letting you know” uses the wrong verb form after “to,” and “I took the same course … last year and have completed this year” has an unclear tense construction. There are also missing or incorrect articles and sentence patterns in “it is course” and “you can apply for this course you not only apply online.” Use a consistent tense for past study and present advice, and separate or restructure joined clauses. These changes would improve control while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
