Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ashish,
I hope you are doing well. Recently, I got your letter that you are planning to take admission in University of Gulf .I am so happy for you. I will be very greatful to help you out with the procedure of enrolment in Bechalor of Commerce course.
First of all, this is the one of best course, if you want to persue your career in business. It is a 3 years course with 6 semesters. You will have to pass every semester with 60% of overall marks. This course will help you to sharp your skills in business sector.
I found this university has best management, because teachers are too friendly and also ready to help. The fee structure is also very facinating, as you can pay the fees partially. One big thing is at the end of your course multiple companies will come to the college for interviews and you may get job before your final results.
I would reccomend this university for your further studies. You can simply go to the university's online website and apply for the specific course. You will defenitely get the revert back in 10 days.
Please feel free to reach me. If you need any assistance.
Yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you describe the commerce course and its semesters, explain the university’s helpful teachers, flexible fees and employment opportunities, and give an online application suggestion. The friendly opening and closing also suit a letter to a friend. The course details and reasons for recommending the university are relevant, but some claims are brief or unclear—for example, “pass every semester with 60% of overall marks” does not explain whether this is a requirement or a typical result. The application advice is especially limited to using the website and waiting for a reply. To strengthen the response, add practical steps such as checking entry requirements, preparing documents and contacting admissions, while keeping the advice personal and specific.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, separate paragraphs for course details and university benefits, then application advice and a closing. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “because” help show how ideas relate, and the reader can follow the main message. However, some links feel mechanical, and the final paragraph moves quickly from recommending the university to application instructions. The sentence “Please feel free to reach me. If you need any assistance” is also split in a way that interrupts the closing. Use a wider range of natural transitions and connect related ideas more smoothly—for example, explain how the university’s support or admissions process makes it a good choice.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to university study, including “course,” “semesters,” “fee structure,” “partially” and “interviews,” so the message is understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “career in business” and “overall marks.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “greatful,” “persue,” “facinating” and “reccomend” are misspelled, while “get the revert back” is not a natural expression in this context. Some phrases are also awkward, such as “sharp your skills” and “take admission.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for education and applications; this will make your vocabulary more reliable and natural without needing unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more developed sentences, including a reason clause (“because teachers are too friendly”) and a conditional sentence (“if you want to…”). Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “I got your letter that you are planning” needs a more suitable construction, and “this is the one of best course” has problems with article use and sentence structure. In “You will have to pass every semester with 60% of overall marks,” the phrasing and article use are also unclear. The closing fragment, “If you need any assistance,” should be joined to the preceding sentence. Practise accurate articles, verb patterns and complete sentence construction while retaining your attempts at complex forms.
