Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Rita,

I hope this letter finds you well.

I recently got your letter, In your letter you were asking about the course that I passed from the Algoma university.

I got to know that you are applying the International Business Managemnet that I did from the University and honestly this course is one of the best course for development of the career and better opportunities in life,

I am saying this because i had wonderful experience from this course.

I am recommending this unioversity to you because it is very reputative and strict towards study as well as it has all the facilities that you do not feel bored such as Library , Gym , Entertainment room , Drama club , Laughter club and many more .

I used to spend my whole day in this University and never get bored , I will provide you some instructions of applying the course , you can easily apply from the portal of this university via online which can provide you all the detail of information.

If you need any help I will be more than happy to help you do not feel hesitate to ask me anything .

Wish you good luck for studies.

Yours lovingly,

Hp

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you identify the International Business Management course, recommend the university, and explain that applications can be made through its online portal. The friendly opening and closing also suit a letter to a friend. The recommendation is relevant, but some support is general: calling the course “one of the best” and the university “very reputative” does not explain specific academic benefits. The facilities list gives useful detail, while the application advice would be more helpful if you described concrete steps, such as checking entry requirements or preparing documents. Overall, the task is covered, though the reasons and practical advice are not developed equally.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a recognisable sequence, moving from the course to the university and then to application advice, with a suitable greeting and sign-off. Paragraph breaks help separate these topics. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by long, loosely connected sentences and repeated links such as “because” and “as well as.” For example, the sentence listing the library, gym, entertainment room and clubs combines several points without showing which are most relevant to your recommendation. The transition from describing your experience to giving application instructions is also abrupt. Use clearer topic sentences and divide related ideas into shorter units to make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “International Business Management,” “facilities,” “portal,” and “opportunities,” and the tone is generally friendly. There is some variety in the facilities you name, but several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors reduce precision: “Managemnet,” “unioversity,” “reputative,” and “detail of information” are examples. Phrases such as “passed from the university” and “strict towards study” are also not natural ways to express completing a course or describing academic standards. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your main message, but more accurate, natural phrasing would make the letter clearer and more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message remains understandable. Some sentences, however, contain errors in tense, agreement, articles or punctuation. For example, “I recently got your letter, In your letter you were asking” joins two sentences incorrectly and shifts tense awkwardly; “this course is one of the best course” has a singular/plural agreement problem; and “I used to spend my whole day … and never get bored” does not maintain consistent verb forms. The final request, “do not feel hesitate to ask me,” also needs a different grammatical construction. Check sentence boundaries and keep verb forms consistent, especially when describing past experience.
