Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Ali,

I hope you are doing well. I am very happy after hearing that you want to applying for the same course which I completed last year. I am writing to give you some detail about the subjects.

Firstly, this post-graduate course will be very crucial to foster your knowledge. Moreover, the subjects which i studied are very informative and mostly were practical based such as Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Supervised clinical practice.

In addition to this, this university is also good because it comprises of high experienced staff and quality-based education. Furthermore, the ranking of this educational organization is very high as compared to other colleges. Therefore, I am recommending this university will be suitable for your continuing education.

Additionally, I want you to give some suggestions about the application criteria. Initially, you have to open university website online and then fill this form carefully. Another important point is that you select the subjects names given on form and also choose one session in which you want to enroll yourself. At the end, you have to pay the challan form through online banking application.

I hope my advice will be helpful for you and you can contact me anytime without any hesitation for help.

I am waiting for your decision.

Kind regards

Nosheen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three requested points and maintain a clear, friendly purpose. The course is identified as postgraduate, with relevant examples such as “Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation” and “Supervised clinical practice”; you also give reasons for recommending the university and outline application steps. These details make the advice useful and keep the letter on task. Some support is still general: “high experienced staff” and a “very high” ranking are not explained with a specific example, and the application advice could clarify what documents or deadlines Ali should check. Developing these points with one or two concrete details would make the advice more fully supported while preserving the clear position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: an opening, course details, reasons for recommending the university, application guidance, and a friendly closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow each part, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “In addition to this,” and “Additionally” make the sequence explicit. The ideas are generally connected, though the repeated transition words make some links feel formulaic rather than flexible. The sentence beginning “Therefore” also repeats the recommendation already made in the preceding sentence. To strengthen cohesion, vary the ways you connect ideas and use pronouns or references where the meaning remains clear, so the organisation feels more natural and less dependent on signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a personal letter and include relevant subject-specific terms, particularly “Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation” and “Supervised clinical practice.” Phrases such as “continuing education” and “application criteria” also show an attempt to use more formal vocabulary. However, some less common choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “high experienced staff,” “quality-based education,” and “pay the challan form.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Choose familiar collocations carefully and use vocabulary that fits the context of applying to a university; this will make your advice sound clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “that,” and the message remains understandable throughout. Some grammatical errors persist, however. For example, “you want to applying” should be “you want to apply,” and “I am recommending this university will be suitable” needs a different structure, such as “I recommend this university because it will suit you.” There are also issues with articles and sentence-level accuracy, as in “fill this form” and the lowercase “i.” Review verb patterns after “want,” clause construction after “recommend,” and article use. More consistent control of these forms would improve accuracy without requiring more complicated sentences.
