Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sherry,
I am happy to know that you want to apply the same course I am studying. Masters in Leadership is one of the best subjects in this recent era. It gives you a structural knowledge how to be a good leader at workplace. The university of Regina offers one of the best courses in Leadership. I am super excited to see you. In your first semester, you can enroll for SOC 550 and NOC 530. These two courses provides you a better understanding of the course outline and methodology. In the last semester, if you take a reserach project, It would be an asset for your job searching.
If you need any assistance regarding course work, feel free to ask me. It might be little hard at the beinging doing lots of course work and assignment but once you get used to these course , you would love every bit of it. You can apply for fall semester, as the university offers some scholarship in fall semester once in a year.
I hope, I can see you soon at my page.
Best wishes
Nancy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you identify the Leadership master’s course and name two first-semester courses, recommend the University of Regina, and advise Sherry to apply for the fall semester because scholarships may be available. The friendly tone and offer of help suit a letter to a friend. However, the course details are more specific than the reasons for recommending the university: saying it offers “one of the best courses” is a broad claim, and the scholarship advice does not explain the application steps themselves. Develop these points with a concrete reason for choosing the university and practical guidance, such as where to submit an application or what documents to prepare. The closing phrase “at my page” also leaves your intended meaning unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the course, gives advice about studying and applying, and ends with an offer of support and a sign-off. Paragraphing helps separate the course information from the later advice, and phrases such as “In your first semester” and “In the last semester” guide the reader through the timeline. Some connections are less clear or feel abrupt, however. “I am super excited to see you” interrupts the explanation of the university, while the shift from course difficulty to fall scholarships could be smoother. The final reference to seeing Sherry “at my page” is unclear. Group related information more consistently and use transitions that show how each recommendation connects to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including course-related terms such as “methodology,” “research project,” “scholarship,” and “course work.” The friendly register is generally appropriate. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, which limits clarity and naturalness: “structural knowledge” would be better expressed as “a solid foundation,” and “job searching” is less natural than “job search” or “career prospects.” There are also spelling errors in “reserach” and “beinging,” and “at my page” does not convey a clear meaning. Aim for precise, natural phrases and proofread spelling, especially in key advice and closing lines.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including conditional advice in “if you take a research project” and a time clause beginning “once you get used to.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “These two courses provides” needs subject–verb agreement (“provide”), and “It might be little hard” needs an article (“a little hard”). In “how to be a good leader at workplace,” the article and preposition pattern need correction (“a good leader in the workplace”). The sentence beginning “I hope, I can see you soon” also has unnecessary punctuation. Review agreement, articles, and punctuation, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
