Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Liza,
I am writing to inform you about my university course which I took in my session. The course was about graphic designing which was 19 credit hours a total duration of four months. You would be able to learn about basics of graphic design and its types which are being used in real world.
I took the admission in AJK university which is best known for its graphics and arts courses. The university has ranked 2nd in whole state which is suitable for you, moreover they provide practicals for their students which is beneficial for students.
If you are serious to get enrollment in the course, you can get information online on university official portal. You would get a admissions form ther fill your personal detail and have some necessary formalities which you to complete and submit your form.
I am looking forward to hearing from you,
Best regards,
Benish Aqeel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you describe the graphic-design course, give reasons for recommending AJK University, and explain how to apply. Details such as “19 credit hours” and the practical work make the course description relevant, while the university’s ranking gives a reason for choosing it. However, some points are not fully developed. For example, “best known for its graphics and arts courses” and “ranked 2nd in whole state” would be more persuasive if you explained what makes the teaching or facilities especially good. The application advice is also quite general; you could clarify where to find the form, what documents to prepare, or when to submit it. Overall, the letter fulfils the task, but some ideas need clearer support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it moves from course details to reasons for recommending the university and then to application advice. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these three parts, and the opening and closing are appropriate for a friendly letter. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. In “The university has ranked 2nd in whole state which is suitable for you, moreover…,” the relationship between the ranking and the practical classes is crowded into one sentence. The application paragraph also contains several instructions without clear sentence boundaries. Use linking phrases selectively and divide related points into complete sentences so that the progression feels more natural and references such as “they” are unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main information, including course-related terms such as “credit hours,” “graphic design,” and “practicals,” as well as application language such as “enrollment” and “admissions form.” There are also attempts at more specific wording, including “ranked 2nd” and “real world.” Some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “in my session,” “graphic designing,” and “get a admissions form” do not sound idiomatic in this context. “University official portal” is also awkwardly formed. Aim for natural combinations such as “during my time at university,” “graphic design,” and “the university’s official website.” This would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately informal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including the relative clause in “which is suitable for you” and the conditional opening “If you are serious…”. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, articles, and punctuation. For example, “which was 19 credit hours a total duration of four months” needs a clearer structure, while “a admissions form” has an article-agreement error. In “fill your personal detail and have some necessary formalities which you to complete,” the verb patterns are incomplete and make the instructions harder to follow. There is also a missing space after “portal.” Use complete clauses and check articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries to improve accuracy while retaining varied structures.
