Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear friend,

Its been ages. I hope you are doing well. I came to know that you are going to apply for the same course in the microbiology, which I had been completed recently from the North Eastern univertsity, Alberta Canada.

I would like to share the details of the course in a brief, it is 18 months certificate course, where you learn the fundamental to intermediate skills of microbial limit test. This test is done for calculating the number of microbes present in the sample.

However, this cousre in demanding you need to do more hardwork to get high score. At the same time, this will lift your career and open a window for new way, you can opt research as a main subject if you want. Following this you can apply for research centers and take a forward step in researching.

If you want to apply in this program, I would suggest you to apply through the university window directlty. It might be time consuming, but safe process to be a part of it. Otherwise, if you rely on others for addminssion you will be possibly ducth by them and your funds will be ruins.

Therefore, I would be recommend you that this course suits you well and you will be potentially do better in that. I hope this information finds you well. I will look forward to hearing from you.

Yours lovingly,

Anjani

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you identify an 18-month microbiology certificate, explain its career and research value, and advise applying directly through the university. The letter is relevant and your recommendation is clear. The course description gives a useful example of what is studied, but the reasons for choosing this university are less fully explained: you mainly describe the course’s benefits rather than specific strengths of the institution. The application advice is practical, although the warning about relying on others would be stronger if you explained what documents or steps to prepare. This covers the task well overall, with some ideas developed more fully than others; adding specific university advantages and a little more supporting detail would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from a friendly opening to course details, recommendation, application advice and a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and links such as “However,” “At the same time” and “Therefore” show an effort to connect ideas. Some transitions are not quite logical: “However” introduces the course’s demands, but the contrast with the previous description is not clearly established. The sequence within the recommendation paragraph also shifts quickly from workload to career options. A few references, such as “this” and “that,” could identify their subject more clearly. Use transitions that express the precise relationship between ideas and keep each paragraph focused on one purpose to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant subject vocabulary, including “microbiology,” “microbial limit test,” “research centres” and “certificate course,” which helps communicate the topic. There is also some variety in describing possible outcomes, such as “lift your career” and “open a window.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “in a brief,” “university window,” “ducth by them” and “your funds will be ruins.” Spelling errors such as “univertsity,” “cousre” and “directlty” also reduce control. The range is sufficient to convey the main message, but more accurate, natural phrasing is needed for the reader to understand every point easily. Check spelling and choose established expressions rather than translating phrases literally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “At the same time, this will lift your career and open a window for new way, you can opt research as a main subject if you want.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the sentence needs clearer clause structure and more accurate verb patterns. There are some errors in verb forms and sentence construction, as in “which I had been completed” and “I would be recommend you.” Articles and prepositions also need attention in phrases such as “in the microbiology” and “apply for research centers.” These errors do not prevent the overall message from being understood, but they make parts less natural. Practise accurate past-tense forms, infinitive patterns and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
