Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Navneet,
Hope you are in good health and high spirits. I was very happy when i came to know about that your applying for the Pharmacy Assistant course that i did from the Toronto University. This course not only provide you the academic knowledge but also provide the practical skills that you need for your future job.
I am suggesting you to do it from the same University as it has the best professors and provide the quality for education. The major benefit is that you dont need to buy and extra material from the outside resources, as everything is included in the tutuion fee.
You can just directly go on University,s website and fill the application form, Here you have to pay the enrollment fee which is also wavied off in tution fee. If you still have any confusion feel free to ask me.
Catch you soon!
yours Love,
Purnima

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you identify the Pharmacy Assistant course, give reasons for recommending the university, and explain how to apply. The advice about professors and course materials is relevant, and the friendly opening and closing suit a letter to a friend. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. The course description mainly says it provides academic knowledge and practical skills, without explaining what you studied or how the practical component worked. The application guidance is also quite general; adding a specific document to prepare or a useful deadline would make it more helpful. The recommendation is clear, but a brief personal example would support it more convincingly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the course, explain why you recommend the university, and then give application advice. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and the closing is appropriate for the relationship. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. To make the progression more polished, connect ideas more naturally and avoid abrupt shifts, such as moving from the application form straight to the fee. The phrase “If you still have any confusion” does provide a link to further help, but a clearer transition or a separate final paragraph would make the ending feel less compressed. Check punctuation around sentence boundaries and the capitalised “Here.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “academic knowledge,” “practical skills,” “professors,” and “application form.” The tone is generally friendly and appropriate. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “provide the quality for education” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “do it from the same University” is not idiomatic for taking a course. There are also spelling errors such as “tutuion” and “wavied,” alongside inconsistent spelling of “tuition.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than adding more ambitious vocabulary. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would make your message clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including the explanation beginning “as everything is included in the tuition fee,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “your applying” should be “you’re applying,” “This course not only provide” needs subject–verb agreement (“provides”), and “buy and extra material” should be “buy any extra materials.” The opening sentence also has an awkward construction in “came to know about that your applying.” Work on forming complete, accurate clauses and checking agreement and articles. More consistent control of these basics would make the letter smoother while preserving its friendly tone.
