Student answer (Band 5.0)

Travelling widens the horizons of our knowledge and provides us essential break from our monotonous life. It is believed that many people will prefer domestic travelling instead of international in future.I completely disagree with the given statement as in future, masses will have enough resources and curiosity to travel abroad. My inclination is justified in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, in potential future, travel will be accessible by majority of the people because of the financial stability and therefore, they prefer travelling across the world instead of just their country. Moreover, vacations are a good getaway time for families

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

Your position is clear: “I completely disagree,” and you give a relevant reason by suggesting that greater financial stability will make overseas travel accessible. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not develop this reason with explanation or a specific example, and the next point about vacations being “a good getaway time for families” is left unfinished. The prompt asks you to explain why people will travel abroad rather than holiday at home, so make that comparison explicit and support it with relevant details. The required minimum length is not met: the response contains 100 words, which is 150 words short. Develop at least two reasons and include a relevant example to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable opening, a clear statement of your opinion, and a transition into a supporting paragraph with “To begin with” and “Moreover.” These features give the reader some sense of organisation. However, there is not yet a clear progression from one developed idea to the next: the paragraph ends abruptly after “vacations are a good getaway time for families,” and the relationship between family holidays and choosing international travel is not explained. The opening also moves quickly from a general comment about travel to your position. Build complete paragraphs around separate reasons, use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas, and finish each point before introducing another.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You show some range beyond basic vocabulary, including “widens the horizons,” “monotonous,” “financial stability,” and “curiosity.” These choices help communicate your general topic and position. However, several expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “provides us essential break,” “domestic travelling,” and “in potential future.” “Masses” is also an unsuitable choice for a neutral essay about holidaymakers. Aim for natural collocations and consistent phrasing, for example, “take an essential break,” “domestic holidays,” and “in the future.” The limited development means you have few opportunities to demonstrate a wider range of precise vocabulary; adding specific examples would help you use topic-related terms more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the opening sentence with two coordinated ideas and the clause beginning “because of the financial stability.” The main position is also expressed in a complete sentence. However, errors in sentence construction and punctuation are noticeable. In “provides us essential break,” the article is missing; “in future.I” needs a space after the full stop; and the final sentence is incomplete, ending with “families” without completing the idea. The phrase “because of the financial stability and therefore, they prefer” also joins its reasoning awkwardly. Practise checking articles, sentence boundaries, and complete clauses, while using a mix of shorter accurate sentences and longer structures.
