Student answer (Band 5.5)

In time to come, more people will prefer to go on holiday in their own country rather than travelling abroad during holiday. I toally disagree with the above opinion because, people will always want to explore new town and city during holiday. In my opinion people will also travel abroad during holiday period beacuse they want to explore new food, new cities, new culture and have a diffrent view of life. I konw it have a financial responsibility

Travelling they say, is a way of learning, people will always travel abroad during holidays beacuse they wants to exprience new things such as food, culture and city view. During the holiday period is the only time one has to relax and enjoy life. The person has been in the country for a period of time so he or she need to explore and have a different perspective about life. So travelling abroad is the only avenue to achieve that. For example when you travel to china during holidays, you will enjoy the chiness food and culture.

I understand that this will come with huge financial implication on the person, but with proper saving one can achieve it. I know that one can still have fun in his or her own country, but you need to know that there is more to life than your current location. When you travel, you will able to understand a lot of things about this life.

In conclusion, Travelling abroad during holidays, is a good thing and it shoiuld be encouraged and supported so that one can have a different view and understanding about life in general. I understand that travelling abroad does not easily, there are financial responsibilty attached, one can achieve with proper savings and planning.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree that people will increasingly holiday at home, and you give relevant reasons, including wanting to experience other cultures and food. The China example also helps illustrate this point. You acknowledge the opposing consideration of cost and suggest saving and planning, which addresses another aspect of the issue. However, the ideas are only partly developed: claims such as “there is more to life than your current location” and that travel gives a different perspective are repeated rather than explained with specific detail. The financial counterargument is also answered briefly. To strengthen the response, explain more fully why international travel will remain attractive in the future and support your reasons with a more precise example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs give reasons and address cost, and the conclusion restates your position. This makes the main line of argument understandable. However, progression is sometimes repetitive: the desire to experience new food, culture and cities appears in both the introduction and first body paragraph, while “different view/perspective about life” recurs several times. Some links are mechanical, particularly repeated use of “so” and “but.” The opening paragraph also ends abruptly with “I know it have a financial responsibility,” before the cost point is developed later. Group related ideas more tightly, use clearer links between claims and examples, and avoid repeating the same reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “explore,” “culture,” “financial implication,” and “proper saving.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “travel,” “holiday,” “new,” and “different view.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “city view” for the experience of a city and “financial responsibility” when you mean the cost or expense of travel. Spelling errors—including “toally,” “beacuse,” “diffrent,” “exprience,” and “chiness”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Build a broader set of precise travel-related expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the reader can generally follow your main argument. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “people will always want to explore new town and city” needs plural nouns, while “they wants” should be “they want.” In “I know it have a financial responsibility,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence pattern is unclear. The final sentence, “I understand that travelling abroad does not easily,” is incomplete because it is missing a suitable verb or complement. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and complete structure; vary sentence patterns while keeping them accurate.
