Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the future, more individuals will decide to go on vacation in their own country rather than travelling abroad. I agree with this view because of the guaranteed level of security including convenience in their homeland as well as the opportunity to explore and acquire additional knowledge about their country.
First and foremost, people who go on vacations in their own country experience more convenience, comfort and security compared to travelling abroad. Individuals tend to feel comfortable and familiarize themselves more in environment where they find people with similar nationality, sharing cultural heritage, appearance and background. This makes them prefer homeland holidays to international ones. A typical example is the Nigerian tourist, Mr Greg who shared his experience on national tourism TV. He laid explained that he has been going for international vacations with different nationalities but the time he had during Nigerian vacation is always very memorial and comfortable. He feels more secured around people of the same nationality. Therefore the special feeling of importance and comfort is a factor that is making people to consider holidays in their own country rather than international vacations.
Furthermore, enthusiasts who like to explore sees their country holidays as an opportunity to learn and acquire additional information especially about their backgrounds. When people travel for vacations across multiple cities, areas, and landmarks in their homeland, they tend to gather in-depth knowledge most especially related to contemporary issues and past history. For instance, the Nigerian emeritus prime minister stated during his live interview with the press that his inter-state tours and vacations within the country exposed him to more knowledge on Nigeria's historical background, cultural heritage, and government policies impact in the grassroot. Thus, holidays within a person's country exposes them to more information and intelligence.
In conclusion, the comfort and security as well as individual's exposure to in-depth knowledge derived from vacations in homeland is an essential factor making people to choose holiday in their own country rather than travel abroad on vacation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding security and educational value are relevant and supported by examples. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, and the examples provided (such as the 'Nigerian tourist' and 'emeritus prime minister') are slightly anecdotal and lack the depth required for a higher band. To improve, ensure that the supporting points move beyond personal or specific anecdotes to discuss broader societal trends, which would provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'Thus' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there is occasional awkwardness in the flow of sentences, such as in the second paragraph where the reference to the TV show is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'cultural heritage', 'contemporary issues', and 'emeritus', which is positive. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'laid explained' (should be 'explained') and 'making people to consider' (should be 'making people consider'). The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed to reach a higher band level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb patterns and articles, such as 'making people to choose' and 'in environment where'. There are also minor issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering complex sentence structures and proofreading for common grammatical slips to ensure a higher level of accuracy.
