Student answer (Band 6.5)

In my opinion, most people will prefer to spend their holidays in travelling. First of all people are fed up with own country and they will be in future especially. Sometime people are very bored to stay home. And not feel mentally relax. So, I think so they can go outside then feel relax and see different culture, taste food and language are also different from us. So travelling is best way for mental health. They went to try another country and see something new.

Secondly, travelling improves language, broadens the horizons, give an opportunity to communicate with foreign. People learn about new culture and taste local food.

Thirdly, they can get an brilliant experience which they will never forget.

Nevertheless, it is believed that people leave our country. To begin with, there are a lot of places in their country which is worth to visit. People think that it is enough for them. There will be more entertainment and interesting places in future than nowadays. Of course, some people will not go to far for travel because they have no much money, so people will save it and travel towns in their country.

I don,t agree with this opinion, because people will a lot of opportunities to earn money in the future as the world is developing very quickly. So they can easily afford travelling. Gradually, more modern changes are taking place in the world. Technology gave us more online works and many games for earn money. And more earning platforms in era.

To sum up, travelling abroad on holiday has as many pros as staying at own country. But I strongly believe that people should not afraid of leaving their country. I hope, they will search another places all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that people will only holiday domestically. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons for travelling abroad, such as cultural exposure and mental health, the arguments are brief and lack depth. The counter-argument regarding domestic tourism is acknowledged, but the rebuttal is slightly underdeveloped, relying on general statements about economic development rather than specific, convincing evidence. To improve, ensure each main point is supported by a clear example or a more detailed explanation to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7 or higher.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'Nevertheless', and 'To sum up' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally interrupted by fragmented ideas. For example, the transition between the benefits of travel and the counter-argument about domestic tourism could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a more cohesive whole.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'broadens the horizons' and 'cultural exposure'. However, there is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'fed up with own country' or 'get an brilliant experience'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations that are specific to the topic of tourism and economic development, while ensuring they are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the'/'a'), subject-verb agreement ('people... is'), and sentence fragments ('And not feel mentally relax'). Punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in 'I don,t', also occur. These errors are noticeable but do not consistently impede communication. To move to a higher band, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and reducing the frequency of minor errors by proofreading your work for common slips.
